Thapelo Letsholo is a Botswana-born entrepreneur and institution-builder whose career has moved through corporate life, independent business, Parliament and the creation of African platforms.
Origins and formation
Born in Kanye and raised in Jwaneng, Thapelo studied Psychology and Organisational Psychology at the University of Cape Town. His early life and education shaped a lasting interest in people, institutions and the forces that influence how each is understood.
Business, enterprise and public service
Thapelo's early career crossed banking, commercial strategy, marketing and corporate affairs at institutions including Debswana, Barclays and Kgalagadi Breweries. The experience gave him a close view of how large institutions make decisions, build trust and communicate their value.
He later left corporate life to establish Red Pepper and build an independent career in business and communications, beginning a longer pattern in his work of creating platforms of his own.
From 2019 to 2024, Thapelo served as Member of Parliament for Kanye North and chaired Botswana's Finance and Estimates Committee. Public service deepened his understanding of institutions, accountability and the distance that can exist between decisions and people's lived realities.
The current chapter
Today, Thapelo is the founder and Group CEO of Bolden, an African platform business spanning publishing, convenings, trusted networks and strategic counsel.
The thread running through the work is simple: Helping people, institutions and nations become better understood.
